Portland Pub Crawl

The Isle of Portland is home to quite a few wonderful country pubs. So, whether you are looking for a place to quench your thirst, fill your belly, or just to watch the footy, you will have many options on where to rest your bum.
The first stop on our crawl is the The Cove House Inn at Chiswell offering a friendly, cosy atmosphere with the most spectacular views Portland can offer. Chesil Beach is quite literally our doorstep – a 16 mile sweeping beach of pebbles for a far as the eye can see. The famous Portland cliffs with their stunning natural features stand tall to the south making them an attraction to divers, anglers, birdwatchers, walkers,
climbers, geologists and any other outdoor enthusiast. Quality, freshly prepared, pub food from our superb menu and specials board is available 7 days a week, with locally caught fish and seafood a regular feature. Inside or outside – take your pick! The outside seating area allows you to enjoy your meal or relax with a drink, whilst soaking up the coastal atmosphere in the sun. Witnessing the breathtaking sunsets over Lyme Bay from The Cove House Inn is a must for all.
For a real local’s pub, then head over to Fortuneswell for the Royal Portland Arms. Quirkiness at its best, it is like this pub stepped straight out of the seventies! What makes this pub so special is the fact that they offer real ales, local brews and a range of draft ciders, all served up by a good natured landlady. Dogs are happily welcome in here, so if you’re out for a walk with Fido be sure to stop in for a quick one!
If you are looking for the newest gem on the isle, then walk over to 133 Reforne and stop into the George Inn. Currently under new management, it has been completely refurbished, offering at least three ales on stillage, with two handpumps to allow for a revolving selection of guest ales. They serve food from Thursdays to Saturdays. Kids welcome!
