Portland, Dorset is the home of many unforgettable diving experiences and is recognised as a perfect dive site by many. From professional to beginner, everyone can take part in this unique journey into the underwater world of deep sea diving. The protective location of Portland Harbour has given rise to many war wrecks over the years. You can spend the afternoon inside the harbour exploring a WWII landing craft and Bombardon Unitdiving_portland, a harbour device that was intended for the D-Day beaches of Normandy. Or maybe you’d rather be in open water exploring the Sea Vixen, a British two-seat jet fighter carcass that the Royal Navy deliberately sunk here, between Ferrybridge and the helicopter base.

Ferrybridge is also host to an unforgettable Underwater Trail. This trench is about fifteen to twenty feet deep and supports a wide range of species, like mackerels, wrasses, and spider crabs.

Portland Harbour is well-known as a training and recreational diving site and thus comes equipped with a multitude of qualified diving instructors that cater to both inexperienced and experienced divers alike. You can sign up for classes that suit your level and start diving immediately. For the adventurous soul, this is also an excellent launching site for more serious diving beyond the harbour walls.
